Niokastro – the Ottomanian Fortress of Pylos
The Niokastro also Neokastro or New Navarino fortress was built by the Ottomans 1572/3.
In 1830, the modern town of Pylos was founded outside the fortress walls and the fort was abandoned.
It is a recommended Sightseeing Place:
